Are you a member of your Church Council? Or are you considering taking on one of these vital leadership roles in your congregation? Sydney Presbytery invites you to an introductory level course for members of UCA Church Councils.

MLC Burwood

The day will have two main session times:

The morning session begins at 9am and will explore key areas of the role, responsibilities and duties of the Church Council, including:

  • What is expected from Church Council roles
  • Voting by consensus model                                                                 
  • Key extracts from the Basis of Union applicable to these Councils.    
  • Risk management, legal and insurance matters
  • Conflicts of interest – perceived and actual                                         
  • Basic financial statement analysis and interpretation                           

The afternoon session, beginning at 2pm, will offer a choice of focus relating to the key leadership roles on the Church Council:

  • Chairperson
  • Secretary                                                            
  • Finance and Property

We hope you find this to be a helpful time and a way to expand your knowledge or cement your current understanding of these very important gifts of servanthood.

This day is free of charge. Please bring your own lunch, or you can purchase something nearby. Westfield Burwood is a short 5 minute walk away.
