Exploring Your Best Self

Exploring Your Best Self™ presented in partnership by Sydney Presbytery, Amnesty International Australia & Enliven Work.

The Reflective Best Self Exercise (RBSE) is a personal and professional development experience. Developed at the University of Michigan and reviewed in the Harvard Business Review, the RBSE is an uplifting tool that allows you to see who you are at your best. It works by collecting stories/reflections from colleagues, friends, family, mentors, and others in your life – reflecting back to you a positive portrait of your best self.

The experience has two parts. The first step, you will use the RBSE web portal to collect the stories about who you are at your best. You will send out invitations to your potential storytellers. This part of the exercise will close on 9 April, when you will be able to download all your stories in a Best Self Report from your RBSE dashboard.

The second part will take place on one of two mornings: either Wednesday 10 April or Friday 12 April. This will be a session facilitated by Dr. Monica Worline and Bob Stocking from EnlivenWork, the social enterprise of the Center for Positive Organizations of the University of Michigan. We will spend the morning applying the insights gleaned from our Best Self Reports to create both a Best Self Portrait and an action plan for how we can bring our best selves to our work and our lives every day.

This can be a powerful team-building exercise as well, celebrating each member’s strengths and aligning them with the work needs of the team. Consider attending with your colleagues.

A parallel track will also be run for those wishing to be trained as certified coaches in the RBSE which will run across all three days, Wednesday 10 April to Friday 12 April.
