Presbytery Meeting - a change of date

August 3, 2016 / by Nadine Newell / in: News

Dear members of Presbytery,

We write to you to give notice of a change of date for our upcoming meeting of Presbytery.

The currently scheduled date is Saturday the 13th of August. Please remove this booking in your diaries.

The new date is Saturday the 10th of September, 2016, beginning at 9am, at Concord Uniting Church, 310 Concord Rd, cnr Wunda Rd.

Regulation 3.5.4 (see below) allows for the possibility of changing a Presbytery meeting date, when, in the opinion of the Chair and Secretary, it is warranted. We write to you to communicate that, in our opinion, this change of date is warranted.

We don’t make this decision lightly as we know how busy Presbytery members are. We faced the likelihood that a Special Meeting was likely to be needed on this new date in September alongside our currently scheduled meeting in August, making for two Presbytery meetings and the Presbytery’s Learning Leadership Event – No Retreat – all within less than a month. We believe changing the date for our Presbytery meeting is a better option.

Please amend your diaries as soon as possible and please also make every effort to be there on this new date as our time together is crucial to our discernment of the will of God in community, which is our way as a Church.

We apologise for the inconvenience and assure you that the Agenda for the meeting on the 10th of September, once finalised, will demonstrate our conviction that a change of date is warranted.

In all things may we remember that it is our collective goal in our region to lead the church to life and may we reaffirm that this abundant life is the outworking of Christ’s work within and through us.

Warn regards,
Rev Graham Long and Rev Stephen Matthews
Chair and Secretary of Sydney Presbytery
