“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 11:1-2)

150 years in Haberfield! Since Mrs. Ramsay laid the foundation stone for the Church on the 28th April 1868, St David’s has been the heart of the community by serving God’s church with love and grace. The celebration was a truly blessed time for all those - past and present - who have been a part of St David’s over the last 150 years.

We celebrated not only the joys and achievements that God has brought to us but also those times of sadness, struggle and challenge. We also brought our sincere prayers to God that God may continue to bless this great church and to guide us as we go forth into the next 150 years. Rev Simon Hansford (Moderator NSW& ACT Synod), Rev Vinnie Ravetali (Sydney Presbytery Chairperson), Rev Kent Crawford (Sydney Presbytery Executive Minister), Mr Anthony Albanese MP, Ms Lucille McKenna OAM (Inner West Council), Mr Tom Kiat (Inner West Council), Ms Karlynne Jacobsen (Principal, Haberfield Public School), Sister Gail Reneker (Marist Sisters) and the Ramsay family were among the guests on the day.

The service was filled with joy and excitement, as well as tears of gratitude. There was great unity in Spirit among those present, which gave us a hopeful assurance that God will continue to be the Lord of this church and empower us to run the race marked out for us. Praise be to God!
